Public School Funding in Georgia: How it affects Webster County Schools
Public Tax Hearing PowerPoint.ppt
Webster County Schools have received official notice that we have been awarded SACS CASI District Accreditation as a Quality School System.

From the Superintendent

Thank you for your support in beginning a very successful and positive 2009-2010 school year. The overwhelming majority of the Webster County community has shown tremendous concern, effort, and determination in making our school system the best around. We have wonderful children who deserve our best.

It is very important that we keep our focus on providing the young with a quality education. Educators are professionals who have earned their credentials through many years of study. Teachers guide and direct the students (in and out of the classroom) in an effort to prepare them for the adult world. The Webster County educators, from those who have taught in the county for many years to those who are new to our community, have vast experiences from which our students will benefit.

Every day will not be a “bed of roses” for all students. Some days will be more challenging than others. I ask that the families of our children allow us to do our jobs to the best of our ability. For those who have faith in public education, the Webster County School System has much to offer. Too often, educators are subjected to defensive, angry, unreasonable, and abusive confrontations about non-learning based issues. This is regrettable, unproductive, and something to which our children should not be exposed. The great news is that it is usually the same small group of malcontents who will never be pleased. Hence, the greatness of majority rule in our nation.

Know that we will always treat all students equal without privilege or prejudice. Know that all students will be required to follow the rules. Know that the schools will be maintained as clean, healthy, safe learning environments. Know that, although we are working very hard to grow an honest, successful athletic program, nothing is more important than academics.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Janie S. Downer
